I was hunting around an old house and found the 2 wheat pennies first, went about 10 more feet and got a great reading, starting to dig the plug and out pops the merc. I couldnt believe it after about 20 outings and I finally had my first silver. Scanned the hole again with my pinpointer and started popping out coins left and right. 2 Walking Liberties 1 Barber 1 Mercury 3 Indian Head Cents and 2 Wheat Pennies. All the coins except the 2 Wheat Pennies out of the same hole. What is the best way to clean the pennies?

Excellent! Use very hot peroxide on the pennies...soak 'em for a few minutes if you want to clean them up. That said, they look fine the way they are! Good job on your first silvers!
