Finally had a chance to get out to a site right over the RI line in Ct

There was still lots of snow in the area so i had to concentrate on the spots i could hunt..

My first dig was this beauty of a 2-piece buttonI I have never seen so much gilt remain intact..Used some naval jelly
on it and it sparkles like crazy.

Then i dug this sweet 1773 Spanish 1 Reale..It felt good to see that Pickled Pepper on his face show up..

Hit the wagon road on the way out and grabbed

A Rosie

Weird glass ball thingy

Hem weight and other odds and ends.

It felt good to finally get out hopefully this will be a killer year..

That 1773 coin is very scarce. Although quite worn its really hard to tell what it might sell for:

BOGOTA, COLOMBIA (NUEVO REINO). SILVER HALF REAL. 1773. RARE !

Nice saves Blaze, great way to start the season, big congrats! Still frozen ground in northern CT, but it's getting closer every day
That looks like a center fireplace base in one of pics, good hiding place for valuables by the residents when the ground was froze back in the day.

Yep that is the hem weight just think of all those old pictures of ladies with them long puffy dresses..

They did not want them blowing up so they tied those hem weights on

Great first hunt Johnny ! That should keep your swinging focused for spell ! I love the early two piece button with what I consider a peacock motiif on it ! It's a gorgeous button ! The Reale is banging as well ! Awesome first silver of the year ! The glass eyeball thing is an early catseye reflector used on old railway and road signs I have found a few ! Good to see you post !
