Thx guys now I know! It's my 1st war nickel. I haven't found a buffalo nickel yet, but to me I rather find a war nickel with date in nice shape than finding a buffalo with no date! Just sayin...:)

War nickels currently have $1.11 worth of silver in them, so it definitely counts as silver in my book.

I got one buddy who doesn't count them...

However, I always have.

Why not??? I'd certainly count a 40% Silver Half Dollar...so why not a 30-something% war nickel.

Silver in my book.

Its silver. Harder to sell as junk silver though. At 35% silver per coin it's not as easy to off as a 90% dime. But dollar per dollar face value you get more silver in nickels.

Yes

If it's shiny out of the ground it counts. At least at my house.
