I found this in yard of an 1890s home.
It has 2 sets of initials,so kind of a mystery,On outside is crudely engraved DUB,also on inside DB,then on inside,JOT.all engraving is crudely done,maybe with a nailpoint.
I twas somewhat flattened,but I was able to pull hinges and straighten it.also in same hole an iron shoe? or watchband buckle but no watch.
