Been having a slow down at work so Ive been able to fortunately bump the detecting time up. .. These are finds from the last couple of hunts. The copper coins around here usually come out pretty bad , it took alot of patience to get the dates off the Indian Heads, one of them is a 1859, the first year for IHs , the other an 1863.... , they along with the buttons were found in the same area. One nice button is a Philadelphia Police button , the other an Eagle button..

Went to a corn field and found the large cent , you can see ONE CENT on the reverse and the silhouette of Lady Liberty at a certain angle but not in the pic.

The Roosie cleaned up with a little baking soda rub.

The religious medalion is from Italy.


Cant wait to get out there again

Yup , its a fatty , the same weight as the other copper-nickel IHs (1860 to 64). Your post had me do some reading up and rechecking my Indian Heads. It turns out that one of the others is an 1859 too! I could tell because on the reverse there is a laurel wreath , not an oak wreath, 1859 was the only year they had a laurel wreath and no shield on top of the wreath. This coin, though has a pit right on the numbers 59
