Finally found my first seated dime. It was in the woods all by itself. Found it in a civil war battle field so it would have been even cooler has it been an earlier date. Can hardly be mad with an 1889 though!!

If you're not really happy with it being such a newer seated dime I would gladly take it off your hands...LOL

I found this so early in my hunt I tried something new. I didn't have any water on me and didn't want to scratch it up but I couldn't see the obverse at all. Judging by the reverse I knew I had a barber or a seated. What I did was put the coin back in the hole with the plug on top in order to keep the dirt moist on the coin til I got done with my hunt. I pushed twigs in a circle around it but in the woods I still took a gamble of losing it lol. Detecting on and imagining what the date and condition would be I came up on a stream that was flowing over some rocks at a crossing. I ran back to my abandoned dime and brought it back for a rinse and a pat. Seeing ole miss liberty's head appear as the dirt fell off caused an involuntary smile. Sat down on the bank and FaceTimed my wife to show her lol

I had found a seated quarter last year but it had been in a gravel road or fire and was barely recognizable. Since then it's been a blood lust to find a good one. Success!!
