HEY GUYS AND GALS

Decided to try something different today and hit the woods back over the mountain with Cousin ED.

Checked out first 4 foundations and nothing for me except the iron plate... which I have in cider vinegar now...and the 2 buckles.

Cousin ED pulled out the eagle button.....seemed like such a weird location to pull out that button. Any ideas on the button ???

Then the last foundation I hit the round case with the bird on it. It is quite heavy and cannot open it as it is corroded around the edges and the hinge.

I,m soaking the bottom of it in vinegar also to try and get to let go.

Any ideas on what is inside it ???

Would like to know what is inside it before I try to open it.

Button is American military, not real old, only go back to 1902 or so. I dug a compact like that a few years ago and still haven't opened it.... or should I say smashed it apart. :)

Ty for the ID....I,ll tell Cousin ED.

Think that is prolly the only way it will be opened...by breaking it.

Hope not....will see if the vinegar releases the rust.

The button is WW1 or WW2 I found many of them...

Seems more of a common find for you being in the US than for me up here north of ya....I think.

Cousin ED was very happy to find it..he was grinning from ear to ear.

I just thought it was such a weird place to find it way back in the woods.

The large piece looks like a mailbox door with the key still attached. More like a box on a door or next to a door to a house, not a rural type mailbox.

Aqua, I did a quick search on your tin...it seems that Familex is/was in Montreal (and France as well) and that is some kind of perfume or makeup tin of some sort. The name on the tin "Jacquello" led me to this: Perfume Intelligence - The Encyclopaedia of Perfume

If the site is correct, that particular product was discontinued @ 1938.

I found a compact about that size and couldn't open it either. It drove me nuts. Then a few months later my wife bought me an ultrasonic cleaner. I dropped that bad boy in there and with a little more gentle hand prying it popped open. Still had some red powder and intact mirror inside. No gold coin either :(
