The 48 quarter in that kind of condition is a pretty nice find -( not to take anything away from the Barber dime )

I took a closer look at the quarter, it is in really nice condition, it must have been lost and in the ground right after it was circulated. Mint mark "D" I don't think it makes much of a difference in value.

The value to me is the joy of finding it!

It seems more than coincidence that I hit sites during or right after a rain and got silvers that never rang up when it was dry. I think the wet soil helps with finding the silver and possibly other finds sometimes. I suit up well and prefer rain hunts except the mud! :)

That's interesting, four days in a row I found silver, 13 coins in total, all in an area with very wet soil and in the rain yesterday. The 13 coins I found Friday - Tuesday were my first silver coin finds. Last year I found a silver ring with a amethyst stone and a couple of sterling earrings, and I distinctly remember it was the day after a rain. I like to hunt with the ground slightly wet not saturated because it helps keep the plugs I dig formed for easy replacement as not to damage the fields I hunt. But, I hate the MUD !

Thanks for the comments everyone.
