HEY GUYS AND GALS

Out for a hunt on the salt shores as the tides are full now .... hunted on land all last week ..tried new spots with no success. So decided to head to the shore.

Pulled this pewter button outta the mud....... was very surprised to see it Octagon shaped.

I have absolutely no idea what is on it ....but is in good shape !!

Also no idea on what the copper piece is either.

Please help me out with an ID on these items if you can. !!!!!

That a good looking pewter button. Few interesting pieces. Wonder what the little piece with the hinge is.

Not sure what the button is but that sucker looks old buddy. Nice find. Just face it man you're an old Salty Dog and you belong by the water. Only place you can function :-)

Oh that's ok buddy. You leave the land to old honest Abe! Hopefully you got lots of water sites. I would hate to see you run out of sites bud. That'd just be awful :-)

I think you got a tudor rose....cufflink ?. It's def. 5 petals, and looks right to me. Might not be cufflink though, I have got a couple 6 and 8 sided buttons.

We'll wait for the more seasoned, but at least I'm not afraid to express an opinion.

Tudor rose cufflink - and think it might be silver - not pewter

The "hinged piece" is most likely an earing, in it's own right might be a find, but not in the same hunt or compared to the linked ? cuff button...IMO.

Silver would be nice, and probably more traditional for linked buttons, but notice the heavy casting line on the back, not typical silver quality, looks more like a pewter. ?

HEY RICK

That is a good possibilty.....woud be cool find if it is !!!

Personally I have no ideas at all......just a newb trying to learn from you guys !!...kinda threw we off when I seen the shape of it. Had no idea they came in octagon shapes. A 8 sided one would be pretty cool also.

TY Mainerelic

The musket balls were everywhere..........I threw away about 20 more---got tired of digging them.

If I ever buy a musket I surelY would have enough ammo to get a steak.:tongue3:

Try the baking soda /tin foil, and salt rub, if you can get any "shinny" it might be, but with all due respect to Casper it is not going to happen. The casting line is pretty much definitive, and I'll bet any amount....any takers ?

Nice octo-find. Surely a cufflink. I've found a couple. Mine are brass. Might want to file a bit on the back to see the base metal.
