Sharing 1940's WW-2 Airacobra photo found.

Thought the airplane fans would really get a kick out of this. Was given about eight photos from a ww-2 veterans estate Monday and this is a seldom seen plane for some reason. Note the engine behind the cockpit. Its being worked on on the ground at Chunute field in Illinois. Early 1940's. Enjoy! ;D

The 6th AF flew these in defence of the Panama Canal, but a lot went to Russia on lend lease. They were great against tanks due to their cannon that shot thru the prop hub down a hollow prop shaft. A lot were lost in between Fairbanks and Nome due to weather and lack of training. Thanks for the pic!
