Seems it's probably the one in my book that's labeled "other ranks" and attributed to the 84th of foot (Royal Highland Emigrants)

I think Cousin ED found the button this winter that belongs to the same regiment !!!
This spot where I found this Cartridge Plate is way back in the woods in a spot where you would least expect to find anything remotely like this...unless it was a old place that was used by the military....was a odd spot with 3 or foundations in a small area with the main foundation having a fancy center piece for its fireplace/chimney foundation.

Just a badge they had on their musket ball pouch. They may call the one in the book 84th because of what was found with it, so not sure if yours would also be considered 84th as well. The little circle at the bottom can have a number, one in my book being marked with 71 for 71st regiment. Either way, it's still a great find. You just paid for you detector plus some.

All that counts is it being old... because if it has the age anything can happen. Soldiers settled everywhere and anywhere, so you never know.

Yeah there's nothing there, it would be clear if there was a number.

I have only seen these for 71st, and 84th, so am quite sure the plain is going to be 84th Regiment like the book. There very well might be some of the buttons there too... just make sure you're digging all signals, even the very low ones!

I will definitely be returning there very soon .....the site is full of trash and iron...crap load (100s)of rusted tin cans..I found this Plate by putting the F75 in high discrim 15 and lowering the power mode to DEFAULT just to get threw the trash...A big square nail came outta the hole first...and then I hit the Plate when I stood up and swung the detector again to recheck the hole ....was laying in the dirt I had dug out.
Checked one of my buttons from this winter and it is a low number 23..very surprised.
