Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all having a nice weekend.

I was with my father-in-law this morning and we were going through his coin collection and sorting out his dimes and came upon this one.

He thinks it might be a die mistake. Is that the correct terminology?

Anyway can you all take a look and let me know what you think, he is very excited to hear back from you all on what it possibly might be.

Thanks!
Ben

I'm not sure if that's a minting error... :icon_scratch: It looks like one but I think it should be on both sides to be from the mint?? :dontknow:

Keep @ it and HH !! :hello2:

Without seeing the coin in hand and checking the depths of the area, it is really hard to say but I'm going to say PMD (Post mint damage) which occurs outside the mint which would make it just damaged and not an error. If you want some great input, go to CoinTalk.com and see what they have to say they will surely have a definitive answer of what exactly happened.

This is interesting.... I don't know what could do that kind of damage out side of the mint. I'm thinking some kind of mint error. Keep us updated! :)
