Found this company script and brass checks around Sharples WV. The script is from the New River Coal co 1943 and Sharples Bend Coal co but it has no date.

Nice find. My grandfather worked in the Beardsfork WV. mine and lived in a company house. My mother used their script to buy lunch in high school. She said the script she used was a red pressed cardboard plastic coated like material that looked like a bingo chip. If you used the script outside of the company store, the stores would charge a extra fee, that is even if the store would take it.
