Favorite field was just plowed and this was about 3" down. As usual I can't get much detail from my coppers. I would still love to know if this is my second 1600's coin. This is the best ID I can come up with, based on the pics. I'm really going by the profile of the back of the head, the ribbon ends and the raised arm on the reverse. Can anyone confirm? IP? Sure is. 1st or 2nd issue... 1695-1699. If you can tell it says NIA and not the date in that position, then it's 1695-1698.

I can't imagine finding a coin that old. Not here in western NC anyway. Congratulations on a very nice find.

I found a coin along time ago and you can only make out some of the image when I had oil on it. It looks like maybe the same man facing right as your coin so I thought of it. Any ideas?
