...First trip into the woods this year. Got
out for a bit over three hours. Temp moving
up into the 70's; ground very wet, so I worked
a ridge that I have hit several times, still muddy >:(

Not much of an office today, did not cover much ground.
Just a branch stuck in the mud. Did not even get
lost today :P

After a bit came across some shards and decided to
do some digging. Had to walk back to the van for
the heavy equipment.

Just shards in the hole so I moved on.

Nothing really exceptional. But had a good time pulling
it up.

Two better shards had a nice pink tint, would have
been nice if they were not broken :-\

Tack equipment of some kind, still has a small
bit of leather on it.

Cover of some type, could be brass. Can, pot,
not sure.

Very heavy iron, and I mean iron ;D
If I ever get the time will try and clean it
up.

Last item is a suspender buckle. "CH. GUYOT"
on it, with stars on either side.

From what I can find out seems to be from around
the 20's. Not sure, any info appreciated.

All in all not much on the finds, but had a good time.
Been working a lot and had not gotten out into my
woods in some time. Good day for the soul. ;D

all have a good un...............

Nice day out Sherm, I like the iron! I found one last weekend with a broken off handle or it could be the insert that went inside the iron to retain heat. Those roots can be tough to get through. HH and thanks for the post, Mike

Great post there good un buddy!

If I just wandered through the woods I'd step on a bear trap. Or run into a DNR officer which would be far worse.

Great stuff!

Great to see you out again. With the variety of finds, I am assuming there was a home at one time close by...any old foundations ,etc?

Hi Sherm,
I saw the pic with the bolt cutters (pruners, it just looked like bolt cutters) and I wondered, what the heck is he doing with those, saw your other pic and thought that was a great idea for cutting roots.

That iron is sure cool, looks like you found it at the bottom of the ocean.

It was a great day to be outdoors, 78 and sunny here and those pics look great.
Thanks for sharing.

Mona,
woman came along today. Found a good
sitting spot and worked on a new book.

BM,
I'm interested in what material the handle
will be, ::)if I ever get around with cleaning
it.

Ruck,
glad you enjoyed.

Bad,
never know what will happen in the woods ;) ;D

Trk5,
thanks. Think, the way it is going, it is going to
be a slim year for getting away. :'(

BDoo,
was a real nice day.

Gypsy,
old farm. Have hit the area several times. Lots
of junk but.................... Seems to be getting
more and more interesting. Lots of tack equipment,
shards, pulled up an 1891 IH on one visit. Just have
to keep looking for the "sweet spot".

Trash D,
if that sounds like a fantastic day to you; you think
like I do ;D

J5503,
it was nice. And I needed it.

Nana, dear Nana,
always will enjoy a walk in the woods.

Always like a lot of photos in a post.
Gives a feel for the hunt. Sometimes
I enjoy seeing folks photos of an area
more than I enjoy the finds.

Bull,
do have the bolt cutter in the van. Never know
what you may run into ;) Hope the iron will clean
up. Yes, it was an excellent day for an adventure.
Whenever I step out the door, its an adventur :P ;D

all have a good un..............
