need help dating shell casings

both found in the Ulster Park NY 1833 house front yard. weight of 2 3/4" 10 ga is 25.7g, the .50- 70 shell is 1 5/8" at 10.3g. told by local gun shop that ctr fire dates from 1880's to 1950's for the 10ga. but his newer versions are much thinner and lighter. no data on the .50 cal.

I don't have a exact date, but I do know solid brass shotgun cases are quite old. Most dating back into the 1800s.

My Grandfather has a double barrel 10 gauge that uses those type shells. It's from the 1880's. from the stories I got, it belonged to the mayor of Boise, Idaho.

The Union Metallic Cartridge Company began headstamping its cartridge-casing in the early-1880s with the S and H representing UMC's "Solid-Head" casing. The S H marking was discontinued in later decades.
