It appears to be one of the "patriotic" versions of Jacksonian buttons. You'll see a very similar "patriotic" one (American eagle with shield) at upper left in the photo below. I'll include another photo, showing one whose emblem is an even closer match to yours.

Jacksonian buttons are an early form of 2-piece button, consisting of an applied brass rim around a brass 1-piece flatbutton. They get their name from becoming widely popular during the first term of US President Andrew Jackson (1829-37). All Jacksonian buttons are civilian-usage, not military, although a few have a "patriotic" emblem, like yours. As you'll see at the Jacksonian buttons webpage, most have a civilian emblem, such as a plant or animal.

All of the Jacksonian buttons are either vest-size or cuff-size... there are no coat-size ones (20mm or bigger). Yours being a cuff-size adds weight to the likelihood of it being a Jacksonian button.

Way Cool. The post is a little odd as it tells only about the button and nothing about how, when, where found. Recent dig? I dug two "Jackson Victory" buttons last fall. They were flat buttons and oddly the words "JACKSON VICTORY" are on the inside, or shank side of the button. Also seen versions that say "Andrew Jackson Victory" (also on the inside) in researching the ones I found. Would love to know what type of site you found yours in and in what state. Also what is the other button that appears to have a "6" on it? Congrats

Some really great stuff there. Unfortunately in TN we aren't quit as old. Very sparse population in those early years makes it tough to get back into the 1700's or even early 1800's , but on occasion we get a few.

Jacksonian era buttons are very cool, though they have a different meaning than the Jackson Campaign buttons (such as TN mentioned "Jackson's Victory"). These were from the era of Jackson's presidency and are some of the first machine manufactured brass two piece buttons. Very cool and you found my second favorite of the collection (patriotic eagle), my favorite is the tall ship motif.
