So I get home from work today, thunder, dark skies. I ask my hunting partner ( Dog named Shy ) if she needs to go out before the big rain. She goes over and lays down by the detector, which in her world means: lets go chase squirrels. So I grab the MD and head outside. I've been hunting an area beside the house that is loaded with nails. I must have pulled a hundred nails out of there but also some buffalo nickels from the thirties. Shy takes off playing wolf and I swing just because I'm waiting on her to figure out that she cant actually catch squirrels. I get a hit....oh imagine that...big iron nail....two feet away I get a solid steady hit...right on a nickel on the ace 350. I'm thinking maybe another buffalo. I dig a small plug and three inches down in the plug I find my first ever 10 k gold class ring. 12.14 grams. It has initials inside and is dated 1970 from a local school. I'm going to try and contact original owner. Have the name but nothing else yet. I just think it would be cool to return it after 44 years in the ground. The little piece was in the plug also, it's part of the ring. Two holes...one gold ring ....I was kinda like...wait, thats not a nickel..kinda looks like a ring...omg it is a ring...kinda looks gold...omg its marked 10k...fist pump. I call to los lobo shy and she struck out on the squirrels but I had a great fifteen minute two hole hunt. Just when you least expect it.....

Excellent finds. Patience & perseverance equals gold.....too many people get in trash and just give up and trash hides treasure.
Hope you can find the owner, that will be great.

Yep that's how it happens, when you lest expect it! Great day wasn't it?
I just love it in that first instant when your eyes are telling your brain it's gold, and the brain is not believing it!

LoL...I hope not.....it's wierd though...clean break and bent sideways...no signs like it was hit with a mower or anything.

Made by Dieges & Clust (stamped inside of ring) the same people who cast the heisman trophy, titanic medals, baseballs first mvp awards..1936 world series rings.etc...I had to search wikipedia...

Class rings are so sweet to find. Of course I can only imagine this as I've yet to find one. Perhaps at one time the owner of the ring lived in or near your home. Might have played in the yard at one point. Excellent find.
