I had some time to kill today and went back to the old torn down house and found a no date standing liberty quarter. Dang it, but I was happy just to find it. It was about 6 inches deep and it made the Ace 250 ring like a bell. I also got 5 wheats-1940PL, 45PL, 52D, 17PL and a 58D. 6 memorial cents, 2 clad quarters and 6 clad dimes. I went out into the woods behind my 1922 house to look for the property line markers. I have been planning on doing this since last sept, LOL!!!....I did wait till 2 days after I killed my third copperhead in the yard this year. Yeah I did wait a little too long to go tramping around in the woods with shorts on, lol...Well, here's the great find I had today... I found an old dump in the woods on my property. I didn't find any ancient bottles but I carried out all I could fit in my pockets and carry with my camera too. I'll post the coins first and add the bottles next. I may wait till next winter to dig the dump out because we are usually covered up in copperheads. Have a good one y'all

Looks like it just rusted out. Thanks for the input.

Great finds with your ACE 250, looks like you got a great place to hunt. By the way, wheat pennies only have mint marks under the date, like a S or D.

Love those bottles you found and YES next winter would be the best time to hunt the Bottle site, or you could hunt it now with a 44mag. strapped on your hip.

Good deal on the SLQ. Two of my three had no date either. Still awesome to find.

I'm glad I live where there are no poisonous snakes. Those copperheads have some serious venom.

Dang,
Great post. I love those bottles! That Spencer Kellogg one is very cool. I bet you find some great stuff in that dump when it is safe. I know what you mean about Copperheads. We have them too. I've been freaking out about running into one at that farm I search, but none yet. Only ticks! I got home yesterday, took my dog for a walk, and ran into a baby Copperhead at the church next to my house! I'm glad I saw it before the dog did. I heard the baby ones are actually more dangerous too. Needless to say, the snake lost a battle with my boot. There is a pre-school at the church and I would hate to see one of those kids get bit.
By the way, that yellow Jeep looks familiar. Here's the one I found yesterday.
Again, great post. Can't wait to see what you find in the bottle dump.
Congrats to you,
MM

Good quarter, even no date. I like those colbalt blue bottles. I know what you mean about copperheads. Place I lived in North Carolina I killed a good many. No rattlesnakes though. Had a good sized blacksnake living in my basement. Had no mice though. BTW copperheads would probably not kill a healthy adult. But would mke you feel aweful bad. HH Sonny

Put out sulfer to get rid of snakes. I've heard of people with snakey properties spreading a band of sulfer around their house to keep the snakes from getting under and into their houses. Surposedly a snake won't cross over a band of sulfer, he (or she) will slither back around and go the other way!
