I havent been hunting too much this year since ive been swamped with regular work, and the money is too good
to take the day off and hunt in the 80-90 degree weather so i figured id wait until i find a decent spot to hunt.
My dad told me to go check out one of his friends farm, the guy has 200+ acres with a pre 1853 farm house, out buildings, barns, sheds, silos. So i took a ride over there to see whats what. I only hunted 2 hours in the 90degree heat. The farm house i cant do until he cuts the grass, but one small field next to the house held some pretty nice finds. This Moses Atwood Bitters bottle was at the edge of the field road in a tree line, the sun hit it just right for me to notice it, also found 3 large cents 1824, 1826, 1836, a 1943 merc, 2 buckles, buttons and this interesting rock definitely formed for a specific purpose, not counting the plow marks. feedback on this rock would be greatly appreciated,
thanks in advance,
Pro

Nice finds there ! Finding those nice early LC's sure helps make the heat bearable. I agree that you have found and Indian artifact, it sure looks like the right material for an axe, although to me it looks like it might have been more in the axe pre-form stage, and then they decided to use it more as a hammer or grinding stone, definitely a keeper. Good luck, it sounds like you have a great place to hunt for the trifecta of goodies (stone, metal & glass) HH

Nice finds! However your Atwoods bitters is machine made and dates post 1910.

it seems every site i find these bottles on, everyone lists a different date. this site says 1880s-90s, another site i was browsing before said 1870s

Ive collected bottles for 30 years. Atwoods bitters was made from 1850's into the 20th century. The bottles can be found with open pontils to machine made. The mold seam on yours goes through the neck to lip . If you look at the base it will likely have a thin circular ring which means it was made by the Owens automatic bottle making machine post 1910.

i guess no point in changing the date in the thread title, would have been nice if the bottle was older but thats ok, it just goes in the buffet with my other cork tops. at least everyone agrees on the indian artifact, I told the owner of the property and he said "no one has ever searched my fields for arrowheads, then he said "cool find, have at it all you want" ... so there might be some valuable finds in my near future.
Thanks to everyone for your input and replies. its nice to come on here and learn more about what we find,

Those are some fantastic finds. Perhaps that site will prove to be the best find with all of that acreage. Congrats
