I decided to go out detecting again this afternoon while the gf went car shopping, lol. I went back to the place Cjon455 and I went on our first day hunting. On that day we were both soaked with sweat and rain and he had been up since the night before. There was also a lightning storm that made me certain we had probably rushed a bit in the small yard. That day, I got 3 silvers and Chris got a war nickel and some nice relics. Today I got 2 Indians, 2 Wheats, a little buckle and some junk. On our second hunt, Chris shared his ATP settings with me when he discovered mine was almost discriminating Indians out. Thanks, Chris! You made today possible, lol.

Very nice green on that one! Nice little decorative buckle too! Congrats!

And now you make me want to pull out my IH and check it on my detector to see if is does the same!
Just when you think you've got it covered, doubt pops up ! Thanks for the info!

Ok enough enough already lol, u r killing me! Nah just kidding, congrats on the indians, I really like the settings I use and am glad they worked out for you! Yes we did rush thru that site too quickly that time. I still wanna try that lady down the road who asked for "proof" of what we do.
For anyone who's interested in the atpro settings:

Pro-zero mode, full sensitivity, iron discrimination 40.
Has worked well for me, and now for old dude!

The back of the buckle has "WMCA" on it. I found out this stands for White Metal Casters Association. They made costume jewelry for women in the 1930's and 40's.

Pretty much my settings as well, except I leave iron at zero too. Makes it harder to hear and pick and choose but seems to work ok for me. :dontknow:

So, why did I buy a discriminating detector anyway? :icon_scratch: LOL

Nice finds Old Dude! :)

Nice finds Old Dude! :)

Thanks! On the 1990, when you blow the pic up, you can read full " Liberty " on the head dress. Pretty happy with it. You've seen how distressed all my other old coppers have been from the dirt here, lol. On the 1880, the reverse is in pretty good shape. I have used a toothpick on the obverse and uncovered some of the bust. The metal itself seems to be intact still so I am giving it alone a hot peroxide bath to see if I can uncover more detail on it. Will post pics when done.

Yep, I noticed. Very nice details. But, and this is just my opinion, I don't think I would leave it in the peroxide very long. It just doesn't look like a coin that will take to it too well. At least, from what I can tell from the pics. :dontknow:

In any case, a nice recovery!

The reverse is probably better than that of the 1990. Not going to touch it ( the 1990 ) at all with peroxide. I like the emerald patina way too much to mess with it!

On that day, he tried one of the many IH's he had found by waving it under the coil. I was getting a very broken and scratchy signal. One that I very probably would not have dug. When I went with his settings, the tone was solid and repeating. One that I definitely would have dug.

He is so ungrateful, Tom! He doesn't appreciate how I let him hunt through MY searches when he isn't able to because of work, lol!
