I got out the other day for my first hunt with the XP Déus. I opted for the 9" coil, as I still have the Etrac as part of my arsenal. I figure if I'm hitting a park or the pasture, the Etrac is coming out. When I hit the hot spot iron patches, I'll haul the Deus out too.

Immediately, I went for one of the trashiest, but productive farms I know. The iron patch has me using my 5" coil when using the ETrac. That's the only way I find anything there.

I used the Deus fast setting and dug everything repeatable. I had a brain freeze and forgot what half of the settings did, so I just stayed around the junk. I dug plenty of lead, plenty of tin can, bits and bobs.... you name it. Not one coin.... yet. But it was only a few hours. We've pounded this place so hard....

I'm not crazy about the bottlecaps coming up so high, but looking back, I should've used the coil pull back trick. I was just sooo excited to dig a high number. :)

If you guys have any tips to share with your buddy, pass them on, please. So far the transition to another "tone" detector is good.

19th Century Button - I saw the rim first. All I could think about was some of the coins that Crusader digs up. Is this a Roman coin? No Gio, it's just a button, you dummy. :laughing7:

I found these around a tree we've hunted many times. The buckle was on edge. I think that's why we missed it in the past.

Nice button, and I like the buckle or wwhatever the decorated thing is.
Look forward to hearing more about the deus, ZDD got his today, so I imagine is immersed in the manual right now.
