Found this 1858 Flying Eagle Cent at the farm house where I found the South Carolina button last week. It's in kinda rough shape and took several hot peroxide baths before I could read the date (was hoping for an 1856) but I'm still really excited about the find, since they only made this type coin for three years it's still a somewhat rare find.

Also found this dropped bullet about 10 feet from were I found the SC button. it has a flat non-conical base, no gas check rings and measures .46 at the base. It doesn't have the white patina that most CW bullets normally have and looks hand cast. If anybody has information that would link this bullet design to the button let me know.

Awesome, I've found almost every variety of cents (lcs, indians, wheats, draped busts, fatty indians, memorials, scummy clad) and no flying eagle yet.

Very nice score indeed!! Congrats

That's a very nice one! If I ever find one, I hope it's in nearly that condition!
