Hey Guys,

Yesterday, Ashlie and I decided to dig out the area where I have found 2 Nashville Military College buttons with the hopes of finding a great relic pit.

Here we are prepping the area and getting all of our equipment ready.

After the prep work, I started cutting out the sod in which we would dig out. First, I cut a 5 x 5 area and then went back about every foot or so and cut a strip to remove the sod in nice squares.

And here is what it looked like after all of the sod had been removed.

While I was Scanning...

Ashlie was sifting.

We were able to find a fire pit of some kind. We found lots of ash and found a few pieces of brick.

While we didn't find any relics, we did have fun searching and I was glad to get at least one dig under my belt. And of course, ALWAYS FILL IN YOUR HOLES!!!

Looks like you were never there. Looks like hard work though (not that I'm opposed to it ;D) why didn't you just metal detect from the top??
Were you looking for something that may not be metal or just trying to get a deeper read?
Great set of pics, thanks for sharing.

Hey Yarrum,

I had found 2 rare civil war buttons there in the past and we have surface scanned it to death. So I was hoping to find some more there, just a little deeper. As we dug it, it appeared to be a fire pit from the brick and ash. Usually, you can find some good stuff in those, such as bottles, coins, buttons, buckles, etc. Just this one had already been emptied out :)

Happy Hunting
