I called another RE agent about a house just 2 doors down from where I found 2 silver dimes last week..my first find was a wheat penny, then fter only 20 minutes I got a signal that read 50 cents..it turned out to be a big fat 925 silver ring..about 5 minutes later I dug up my first Buffalo nickel, I can't read the date, but it is what it is! I was ECSTATIC!

I also found 2 toy cars, one is a 1950's Tootsie Toy jeep.

I ended up with 9 wheats, 1939-P, 1944-P, 1945-P, 3 1951-D's, 1953-D, 1956-P and 1957-D.

I got too tired to continue so I decided to quit and come back later..I also started talking an older gent next door and he told me I could check his front yard..I didn't even have to ask!

Nice finds. Still waiting for my first IH or Buff. :'(. I've seen older houses for sale and thought about contacting the real estate agent. Do they usually give you permission? I figured they wouldn't want me "messing up the yard". Maybe I'll get brave and call myself. Thanks.

Re: My First Buffalo Nickel Found In A Private Yard!

Nick, it almost seems that way! Thanks.

Bull, the house was built in 1959, go figure! Your time will come, it always happens when you least expect it.

Sheldius, I've called 4 agents and got permission 4 times. Look for a house that looks like it's in need of repair..some of the homes around here need quite a bit of help..one was actually sold to a developer because it needed so much work.

Great job on getting those nice coins.

Asking permission is great and you got another offer to detect in another yard. AWESOME!! ;D

Nat, do you ask on signs that say owner/broker, or signs that just say for sale or any and all ?

Way to go Nat, looks like you have a hot spot, better go back and hit it again, where there's wheat's there's silver.

By the way, one time I was hunting a house on our main street, a fellow came over to see what I was doing and suggested I hunt his house. I went to his yard and another neighbor came over and suggested I hunt his yard. This went on for a month. I hunted over 6 home sites in this matter.

I love this hobby. HH, Ringfinder

Thanks guys :)

Gribnitz, I call the ones that have a RE agent's name and number to call..I haven't tried the ones that just say FOR SALE with only the company's number.

I'm going to go back today before it rains and try to get me a silver coin or two.

Nice finds, got a Jeep like that too. Very nice photo documentation, no mistaking where they came from.

Thanks doc, I kinda knew that you'd chime in when you saw yet another not-yet-gold ring in that pic ;)

The middle band on the ring spins freely..have you ever seen a ring like that, or do you think it might have just come loose?

KirkPA, that Buffalo made my day even more so than the ring!

Paul, getting permission is so awesome because you can take your time and enjoy a thorough search.
