Pennsylvania was pretty kind to me, considering.

There's no constant in life greater than change, but man! ;)
I've been trying to coordinate a business trip with family and a hunt for months!
Finally, I managed to get up there, near the N.E. area and nothing, I mean NOTHING,
went right on my schedule! I only managed to sneak off for a few hours on just one day! No research, no knowledge
of the area, just drove around, found a park and got my fix. ;) Here's the results:

The pics don't do this justice. There's almost a mirror finish on this coin. :dontknow:

But, even with this ad hoc hunt, Pennsylvania was kind enough to give me this
really nice old piece. From the middle of the infield no less! LOL

And, even Blingie seems happy.

What was the going rate on rubber band necklaces again? :icon_scratch: ;)

All in all, not too terrible! :) There ARE people hunting up there, aren't there? ;)

Thanks for peeking!

so i went out to a park this morning and was gonna look for some clad. I couldnt even find a signal. on the infield somebody wrote in the dirt, "W.I.F was here" and there was tiny lizard tracks everywhere....:dontknow:

Sorry, couldn't have been Blingie. He was back tearing up the house with a party for his friends. ;)

I really wish you had sent a pm too, but looks like you did fine all by yourself, lol. I have been wondering if you had decided not to come up. Too bad you aren't here this morning.....Chris and I may need to hit a park, lol.

Like I said, time just would not work for me this time. I was barely able to sneak in what I did. BUT, I did manage to leave a "door open" so to speak, for another trip. :)

My "doing fine" was a complete and random blessing. I had no clue! LOL Just wound up in a target rich area I guess.

Maybe next time! :)

I can think of several possibilities

The Park you hit was Considered Off Limits to Detecting by the locals (or too New)

Or considered Hunted out in the 70's :tongue3: & ignored Since

Or you just happen to hit areas of the park others ignored.

That area Has a Pretty Old Large Club
(Black Diamond Treasure Hunters Club started in March of 1981)
so lack of Expierence is doubtful

An old lock is something that has not got under my coil yet, cool, and I want one.

Well, I would be the very LAST person to suggest ANY sort of skill was involved in what I found. I did notice a complete lack of old coins so that tells something. Don't think it was off limits. I actually talked to a groundskeeper and he had no problems.

Hitting areas that others tend to overlook is a bit of a specialty for me though. Probably because my mind is so screwed up nobody thinks like I do, (thank goodness!!)

Not a new park by any means, just a little out of the way place. So it's probably as I figured. I just happened upon a spot where others have pretty much moved on. Looking for that spot with an "X" on it no doubt. The lock? Heck that thing is big! It's a large, heavy, almost solid block of brass. Almost a pound. It was a very large signal near the surface. I just felt like looking, this time. ;) Makes for nice surprises sometimes, trashcan lid hits. :)

In any and all cases, I just felt rather blessed to happen upon a place where I could find a large amt like this.

I'm hoping to make a return. :)

haha PA is a very old state with lots of history and old stuff lost in the ground. The closer you get to Phila - the older things can get.
You didn't do too bad for random picks. Too bad you didn't hit some silver or LC's but that site obviously hasn't been hunted
in awhile! HH!

I kinda thought that I couldn't go too very wrong stopping to hunt ANYwhere in Pa. Like you say, a rather old line state. ;)

I hoped to find old coins but I also know there are a LOT of hunters up there. LOL I was perfectly happy getting what I did. It's ok, the place needed abit of a clean up run for it's clad anyway. :)

Thanks!

Well no...not now. You have it all!

Well, I dunno. Might be a case of the chicken or the egg. It might depend on when Vino started hunting Philly. I was there a very long time ago, too. ;)

LOL

Back, safe, just below the Mason Dixon again. There was a rather LARGE break in my hunting over the years but I did hunt the Centennial Park for a while back in the 70's. Pretty fond memories from back then too. :)

Wasn't then. I talked to the park supervisor at the time. He enjoyed the finds and I even gave him the artifacts for his own collection. :)

Ahhhhhh, those were the days! LOL

I love the lock! I live right next to those tracks and found an old railroad token last weekend. The token was for scranton railway company though.
