(***Correction of Post***: I just realized this coin is from Luxemborg. Not France.)

Found this doozy today. an 1870 French 10 Centimes. I have found a couple French Sols at this spot, but they are from the late 1700's when the cellarhole on the property was still a home. It went abandoned or burned down by 1870 and nobody lived there. I know the land was hayed for 100 years after that, and I am thinking that maybe the farmhand employed either a French man or someone from Quebec that lost this big guy (28mm!). I live in Western Massachusetts so i don;t think this theory is too far fetched, but who knows. Anyone know if people actually traded in foreign money at the turn of the twentieth century?? I am going to assume it was lost at least 10 years after it was struck. Either way, I'm happy.

CORRECTION: I just looked up a photo of the coin where the writing is clearer. it isnt French, it is from Luxemborg. Luxemborg was part of the French Empire until 1815. Now I am even more confused as to why I found this!
