Most of the local people in the community had never heard of a General Store in this field between 1872 to 1879. Property owner finally got the hay off today. Found lots of square nails, horse shoes, hinges and other various iron objects such as large square nuts large iron rings 3 to 4 inches. Took a few pics of my other finds. No old coins yet! But will be going back. According to my research in the local library most items were bought with gold dust from local mines. The scales used to weigh the gold are still owned by living family members of the store owner.

I'm not really sure I've found the exact location of the store yet. so close to where I live I'll hit it every evening.

Must be nice to live so close to a great site. I really like that ornate old lock plate. They made things well back in the day, didn't they? Nice finds!

Cool stuff RJ..really like that old, ornate lock plate..very very nice, the craftsmanship of old pieces just blows me away..that is what I like about finding the older stuff..recently found something as simple as a coat hook, an OLD brass coat hook, but was very detailed and the quality of something as simple as a coat hook blew my mind. Now everything is stamped out..made in China..etc..awesome find RJ, you have been getting on some older sites and your research is paying off..ddf

Thanks for the copliments and I hope there's better to come. Have another place lined up this weekend, came straight in from work yesterday evening, grabbed a quick bite to eat. Gathered my gear and filled up the camelback and stayed at it to 8:30 yesterday evening.
