Made my way back to my latest spot today to do some more exploring. Sure enough there are still musket balls scattered all about the site. No coin this time :( though I will take what I can with the limited time I have (baby comes next month).

My take for the day was about 20 balls of various calibers, and about 10 buttons (minus 5 or 6 balls and 2 buttons that I shared with a local landowner). Love digging those early vented buttons when complete and also like the early key that needs to take a bath in electrolysis.

Not pictured was a ton of junk and lead sheathing that has continuously been recovered here.

Nice buttons, Dan. The soils you have sure are kind to them.

In spite of no coins still not a bad day Dan. You got a decent amount of lead and brass, and its just a matter of time before the early silver reappears. Was the vented button the oldest find from today?

Love to see what that skeleton key looks like after electrolysis!

I suspect a few more coins are still there. The last little spot I was in had so much iron, I hunted as long as possible thinking I would pop a big copper out. The button is the oldest most likely.

Thanks for all the other comments to everyone else.

I'm assuming these buttons came from fresh water mud? They look like Thames finds, if not the soil is very strange or very wet? (or free of chemicals/plough)

Are the vented buttons the same as " blow hole " buttons? Nice amount of lead.

Great looking finds Dan, I am just heading out the door and I hope I can do half as good as you did on this hunt.
Congrats,
ZDD
