These are all of the paper shotgun shells that I have found so far this year, not counting the paper shotgun shells from today.

Same here, holy smokes that's a lot of shotgun shells . I feel better now about digging the ones I have this year . Although mine are tossed in the scrap metal bin. I might save them next year to see how many I get

And I thought I had dug my share of them... those and jar lids. The way I look at it, the more you pull out of the ground the less there will be to dig up in the future. Theoretically, anyway. Right?

Hello coinman123. Dang, the folks in your neck of the woods sure loved their shotguns! I have gallon jar of them collected over the last 3 or 4 years but that is a double-combined-$#!+load of them.

I share your passion for finding these things the head stamps are cool and they fairly easy to date. Here is the best site that have found on ID'ing them.
Turtlefoot Headstamp Project

Thanks for the post and pics...C9

Thank's for getting those " False Buttons " out of the ground.

Is Turtlefoot Still Around?

I've Dug about that Many in the last year or so.

I used to throw them in with the Scrap Steele , but in the last few years I've been keeping them.

About 7 years ago 1 local scrap yard said they were not worth anything, 'hence me throwing them in the Scrap Iron & Steele.

Heck I even have a few Hundred Soaking in a Bucket of water for later Cleaning (OCD) ,To ID the
Head Stamp { mostly "New Club" Types}.

I guess ill keep hoarding them until- WHATEVER. LOL

It's Really a Testament To the versatility of the Shot Gun. & It's Role In American Outdoor History.

Davers:thumbsup:

Nice headstamp pile, I have two home depot buckets full of them, I sell them to an old guy around town who pops the primer and cleans them up to make buttons out of them. I get 25 cents a piece for them.
