Found Part of a Belt Buckle? Horse Tack Buckle? Help, Please!

I found this tonight about 5 inches down. Looks like the front part of a very small belt buckle, but I could be wrong. Any guesses as to what it is and how old it is would be appreciated!

From what I see.It is half of a lock..
But then again I dont have it in front of me...

Okay, it's now unanimous! It's definitely part of a lock. I did a Google image search, but couldn't find one that looks like this part. No luck on eBay either. Maybe I'll find the rest of it tomorrow, which probably has the lock manufacturer's name on it. Thanks for the help, guys.

Tim, that type lock was a real "cheapie". That is the back part & is so thin because the front part had the "sides" molded on to it & then it was riveted to the back......(after the guts were put in it) Some didn't even have a makers name on them.........

Thanks for that explanation. I just couldn't imagine it being a lock, but it definitely is one. Oh well, I'll toss it in my scrap pile...
