Wow. I finally found one of my bucket list Civil War relics, but I would have never expected to find this one. From the research I've done, it seems this is a pretty darn rare buckle/plate. It has N. O. on the bottom signifying New Orleans. If anyone knows anything about this one, please let me know. It's for sure a buckle with the Louisiana State Seal used by the 5th Washington Artillery Unit, which I believe is the oldest standing artillery unit in America to this day.

AMAZING FIND!!!! Question, did you find that early on or were you near the end of your hunt? Just curious because it seems i always find the best stuff right away and spend the rest of the picking wrappers out of holes....lol

I asked the forum if it was okay, so I did it. I saw some of the other finds with 1000 views and figured mine was because of the title. Sorry. Flag you combined them. Thanks

Hey guys, I want more people to see this belt plate. Would you guys mind helping me come up with a post title that will grab people's attention?

Congratulations sir ! I think if you look on top on the Banner you will see it. It looks as if the members voted it up and Jeff put it up in record time. What a find!! In Tennessee?

Have been off the grid for a few days - pull up T-net and my eyes lit on (I agree) the FIND OF A LIFETIME. Just not enough superlative adjectives to describe this. What a rush. If you ever top THIS find, I don't know what the heck it would be . . . maybe Stonewall's left arm . . .
