Wednesday after work, I went back to the spot that gave up the 2 Mercs on Tuesday night... imagine that...huh?

I went nice and slow, as to not miss anything. I got a weird signal, 75 on the Dues (copper cent should be 88)... but it sounded good, so I dug it up. When a wheatie appeared, I was confused because of the signal, I went over the hole, BANG 75 again. Out comes another wheatie... and there is still something in the hole...Out comes a little flat silver colored piece of metal, with 2 green circles on it. The Wheaties were apparently stuck to the flat piece. If you have any idea what this is, please let me know.

I dug another wheatie that is the smoothest cent I have ever dug... I could barely tell that it was a wheatie. When I cleaned it up at home, I noticed that it had a hole in it. That is my first "holed" coin.

Last, but not least... I was able to find another Merc at the site. The sandy soil is easy to dig in and doesn't tarnish the coins.

Betcha can't guess where I am going after work today.
Thanks for looking!

Nice "Hole-Wheat" there =D Seriously tho have yet to find a holed one, seems rare in wheat cents. And looks like someone was using that tag to hold their two cents, as to why no clue on that ! It is like asking why do some people put nickels in foil gum wrappers? I don't know lol !

nice follow up merc, I had several hits today that weren't normal also, a couple of dimes that were lower in # and a nickle that was higher like a high pull tab. made me wonder if my machine was acting up but the following dimes and nickles rang up normal. I guess the dirt and other minerals confuse the machine even more. Thanks for the PM.. Jerry
