Mini-slump over with today's Barber dime, civil war token and Indian head cent !!!
I've been in a terrible slump the last 4 or 5 hunts with nothing to show but a couple of wheat cents. Hit a different park this morning and the first target I dig was a nice 1863 Robinson & Ballou Grocers, Troy, NY civil war token. Fifth civil war token I have dug this year. Crossed over to a different area of the park where I had some luck years ago and the first target I dug there was a shallow 1907 Barber dime. It was no more than 4" deep. Not far from the dime I get a text book indian head cent hit and sure enough, from a good 7" deep I pulled out the 1898 indian head cent in decent condition. What I loved about today's hunt was that there were fresh plugs all around from someone else detecting there. It gives me pleasure when I pull coins from an area somebody has already covered. The trusty Explorer really excels in the trashy old parks ! Only other good finds were a wheat cent and a large musketball.
