Hit the backyard for a few minutes while grilling some sweet corn yesterday (it was delicious), and had a heart stopping moment. In the side of my hole I see the edge of this gold beauty!

Woo-Hoo!! My first gold!!!!.......................................not!

Pulled it out and here's what I got. Some sort of anodized curtain rod holder I'm guessing. :'(

Also 2 copper Lincolns ('78 and '80), a super rusted 1-1/2" nut, and an odd chunk of what I think is bone. Gonna post more detailed pics of it in the What Is It? forum and see if anyone has any ideas.

Did I mention the corn was delicious? At least it was golden.

Thanks for looking!

I had the same type thing yesterday, ring marked 18 K, must of been plated or just a plain fake.

Oh man; what a disappointment.

I dug up a "gold" bottle cap one night when it was almost dark and I didn't have my glasses. I swear i thought it was a gold coin for a brief, exciting moment. I think it was from a big wine bottle or something.
I hate when that happens.

Oh well, just keep digging those trash signals and the gold will appear, sooner or later.
