Last couple of weekends I have been hitting a pile of dirt I found dumped in one of the lots I hunt. First week I hit some silver some jewelry ans some cool relics, I decided next week to bring a rake and try to get down depper and it paid off. Over a period of three hunts I have done pretty well and still have not hit bottom. Found a model t key, large pocket watch case larger than a silver dollar, a pretty cool old cuff link, couple of old rings, and a old mexican coin still unsure of date but think I see 1917. I know it still holds more for me, lots of old broken bottles and china is every where. never disregard what looks like would not hold treasure, you might be surprised what you find. Sorry if there is repeat pics, lost track of which ones I posted.

You gotta love that, pull up a seat and wait for the truck to come and give you a treasure hunt!
Nice stuff, now you have to feel a little lucky, right Ray? Thank goodness you had enough sense to check that pile and enough sense to bring a rake the next time. Nice saves buddy!

Thanks treblehunter, I feel very lucky, and I learned also some time ago to constantly keep checking the surroundings of your previous hunts for activity. I seen that a fence was removed between a house and a lot I hunt which brought me to go investigate and led me to these piles of dirt. I seen old broken bottles and china so I knew this dirt had potential. Between all the silver and wheats and modern coins found I have a coin from every decade from 1890 to present.

O yea!! what SUPER AWESOME finds!! I cant believe the assortment of great goodies you have found! Like Red James sez..I would track down the origin of that dirt! Recently, at our local fairgrounds-which has been pounded to death and back..I drove past and noticed the boys had the toys out and had dug a trench in the parking area, near where we have pulled a lot of silver in the past. Sooo..next day I slide in there and poke around. Note that they had hauled most of the dirt off, leaving a small pile about 4-5 feet around and a few feet tall. Immediately...BING BING 82 82 82...solid dime signal and no bouncing around. I didn't even have to dig, just stuck the pro pointer in the loose dirt...buzz buzz.. and pulled out a VERY nice 1909 Barber dime. SCORE! Thanks for sharing, very good finds..now go track down that awesome dirt..ddf

That's amazing.
And this was just fill dirt or dirt moved out of some other location??

That religious medal looks really cool btw, not to mention all of the other awesome finds.
I'm gonna start keeping my eyes peeled for dirt piles from now on. You just never know.

Congrats.

Thanks, first realized the potential of these a couple years back, hunting a location and upset that someone dumped dirt over my area, ended up finding more in the pile than the huge lot. Like u said you just never know.

Nice haul! And like Coilygirl mentioned, that looks profitable enough to start sifting.
Scrap about six inches deep, sift, detect new exposed area. Repeat.
And keep us posted!

Sounds like a great idea my only problem is this neighborhood where this is located is not very safe and confronted alot with vagrants and undesirables. I can get away with detecting but setting up a sifter would draw to much unwanted attention. So my only other option would be loading up the dirt and bringing it home. If this weekend is just as productive with finds I will seriously be thinking of bringing it home.

Congrats!! just some time a patience,... :occasion14:

Thanks spede, spent about a half hour raking which gave me coins that usually takes me hours to find, just like you said a little extra work and being patient in knowing whats soon to come sure paid off.
