I don't know what or who it is but he's made of iron and needs a bath.:laughing7: Any help on a home remedy to clean this guy up a bit would be greatly appreciated.

I will do that Texas. I don't have a battery charger or a big battery to use, yet. I have it soaking in plain ol vinegar, hoping the acidity will get rid of allot of the rust and crud. Thanks for the "How To" Rodger.

Vinegar works very well, very well. It will take some time, but easy safe, and effective.

How tall is it ?

Cool find.

I agree with SCDiggin, kind of looks like the old Barclay Soldiers. I use to collect them when I was a kid when my folks would go antique shopping.

looks pretty neat whatever he is.You could start giving it a minor clean up by picking at it or tapping on it "lightly" with a screw driver to get some of the thicker crustation off. Works better if you let it air and dry out a little first.A wire brush can do a good job.neat find!

It sure looks like iron does a magnet stick to it ? All the Barclay toys I have found are lead cast.

He's 3" tall exactly and he is magnetic. I'm pretty sure he's iron but as the little pieces of rust and crud are starting to break away, he does look a little like a soldier but i can't be definitive on that, still VERY crusty. I will chip away at it this weekend per your suggestion Diglron2.
