I normally wouldn't post until my finds were cleaned up but I'm curious about this anchor button. I will post better pics of the coin later. So here is the button. It's 22.5 mm and seems to have a wooden back. It's hard to tell because there's not a whole lot left. Thanks for the help guys

Nice relics there Ahab8 - looks like the DB has got some detail down under the gunk - and is the buckle sterling ?

The button is modern so what you're most likely seeing is a combination or rust and something else that makes it look like wood.... or it's just some other modern material other than wood... maybe pressboard. :laughing7:

Thanks buddy....and my search continues lol. This area is old. 1760 bridge. But it is so damn thick right now that I could only search a small eroded bank. Is that just a civilian button I'm assuming?

Civilian or could be some type of modern service associated button, just not very official looking. I'd keep looking... not for an ID, a better find. ;)

Interesting button. It seems it wouldn't be very often that you'd find a button that small that had obviously been repunched through the front for re-use after the back gave way? (but then again this is Maine where "a penny saved is a penny earned" etc.) so who knows.

Nice finds Ahab. The DB looks like it might clean up pretty well. Interesting buckle... Modern, you say?
