Large Cent (Draped Bust) pocket spill! (4 Coins)

I was headed to my usual MD spot this morning when I discovered that I had no access to it (multiple sporting events going on). I drove around for a bit until I remembered a wooded area I wanted to try. These were my first 3 signals, found within minutes of when I arrived. They look like Draped Bust cents but I haven't attempted any cleaning yet (I don't use chemicals, but I haven't even really brushed them off yet). Regardless of the dates, they're my oldest coin finds to date. Very excited to go back!

:headbang: Update: 4th DB found at this site! Picture added in post #42.

I used to have tons of before and after pics of hp cleaned coins. If done correctly and on the right coins it's very effective. I've found enough old coppers now that I've learned you've either got a solid coin with potential or you've got an ugly toasted coin that will never be anything but that. I personally would hp those in a heartbeat but that's just me. Here's a couple of examples. Yours like fairly solid underneath. Good luck whichever way you go and great finds

Update: 4th DB found.

4th Draped Bust Large Cent found this morning at that site. This was about 10 feet downhill from the others. Not sure how I missed it yesterday (seemed obvious today, ofcourse-- nice clean 84 VDI). Not sure of date yet.

4 DB's at one spot has to be a record. I hope you're wearing headphones so you can hear those faint whispers of the even deeper ones!

Three signals and three DBs, oh my!! And then a fourth? That is one incredible site you've found there, congrats. Wouldn't you just love to know the history of that site? As for cleaning-- if they were mine, I'd pick just one of the coins and give it the hot HP treatment. If I were satisfied with the results, I'd then clean the rest the same way.

This is a macro shot of the 4th coin focusing on the date. Last visible digit looks like a "9" but I can't tell if it's the third or fourth digit in the date. If there's a 9 in the date, it would have to be pre-1800.

I've been staring at this a while and after cleaning it up and tweaking the contrast, I'm seeing "1798". Does that look right? Thanks again for all the kind words and advice.
