Found a couple Wheaties and a 1943 Merc at a coworkers house. After I left there I headed to a house I just got permission on. It was built in the 60's but at least it's another place to hunt other then school yards.

It started slow at the 60's house as I wasn't finding any coins at all. Finally got a strong 80 on the AT Pro and out popped what I hoped would be a silver ring. It has 2 marks. One reads CINER and the other I'm pretty sure is Sterling although its really small and hard to read. Here is a link that gives a little history on Ciner. They switched to making costume jewelry in the 30's so I wonder if this ring would be considered costume? Is the "stone" probably glass? It has a blue tint when light is shined from behind. Unfortunately, that back part is broken, but I assume could be easily fixed by a silversmith.

Ciner Manufacturing Company and Jewelry Marks

Here you can see the break.

A little while later I got a solid signal and as I dug I could see some bright yellow. YES! I finally found some gold. (Or at least that is what I was hoping. :laughing7:) After I got home I gave it a little cleaning and from what I can tell is marked "CID 10KP" I looked up CID but couldn't find very much info. Anybody have any info on that maker or if the ring might have any value above melt? Thoughts on the stone?

Any insight or thoughts on either ring would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

ps - MY FIRST GOLD!! Woohoo!!

Yep, I see Sterling. Not sure if that's a true "break" or if it's a half-a$$ re-sizing job. Good digs.

I like em both - The sterling ring is very cool and the blueish stone could be a carved amethyst - even if it's glass it could be worth bucks , the gold ring appears
to have a garnet to my eye - also a classy looking and heavy ring - very nice treasures !!!

Great finds. Whadifind is correct in that the 10KP means 10 karat plumb. That is a term that guarantees it is 10kt gold. Being your first gold ring I would hang on to it. I wish I had saved my first gold ring. If you have to cash it in it's a different story. Been there too. HH
