Last weeks Charleston SC, Union Camp Dig, produces a GOLD man's signet ring!!

This has to be the BEST personal artifact that I have ever found in either a Union or Confederate campsite. It is a site on a coastal sea island, near Beaufort, S.C. I found this camp in 1971, and each time a new metal detector comes out, this spot produces more and more relics. This ring was right in the middle of a path on this island, that I have detected over hundreds of times. It just proves that no site is EVER hunted out!! I'm sure the Union soldier who lost it, was sick about losing it.......but now it is brought back to light, and will hold a spot of Honor in my collection. Enclosed is a photo of the ring, and a video of it being dug. Enjoy!!

I nominated your incredible ring find to the banner.
I believe it's that good. I was pondering the personal and overall history involved and wondering about the individual who lost it, what he may have endured, whether or not he survived the war and made it home, etc. It's pretty impressive imo.

Congratulations on an awesome, personal and historic find.
I would definitely consider that ring a find of a lifetime.

So who's with me??

I went TDY to Beaufort and Cherry Point, NC and I must say it ( Beaufort ) was one of my least favorite deployments, lol. Finding something like that would definitely have made me like Beaufort infinitely better though. Awesome and a very meaningful find!

Two different places...........but, they were brothers. One is pronounced (Bo-fort) the one in N.C. and the other in S.C. is pronounced (Bew-fort).

Thanks Garrett424! And for all of you who commented on this find. I have never had anything voted for Banner on this site, so it is greatly appreciated! If you could see the remoteness of this island, and the jungle that now has taken over the site where the stockade fort was, it is hard to believe anything ever happened there. Thanks to you all!!
