got a chance to get out for awhile sunday,noticed the beans being cut sat.in the field next to my house&got the greenlight from the farmer to search it:icon_thumleft:about 30yrds from my property I found the 1882 ihc in about 10min of detecting,shortly after was a clapped out lc & the "extra rich"button,but oh how things do change!spent the next 2hrs finding can slaw,tractor parts & only 2 more buttons..i'm thinkin it mite be worth hitn again when he works the dirt.almost forgot,anybody know what the thin bent tokenlike item is? says N.W.on one side & 16 3/8 on the other...HH&thanks for lookin! The thin token with "N.W" is probably a pickers check. N.W was probably the initials of the farm or farmers. People collect and research them in some areas, and you might be able to figure out who N.W. was with old maps or land records. Nice finds, and I suspect you will continue to find more there. HH

thanks dude,i like fields too...well except for getn hung up in the uneven bean stalks every 10 minutes.lol

Oh it can get worse, lol. I spent a couple hours this morning in the rain in a cornfield with 10-12 in stalks just to find these:

It was worth it though cause I really like finding old musket balls. I think this was only my 6th this year. My coil is a little sensitive so bumping the stalks makes it false a bit.
