I wasn't gonna' hunt at all after work today but there was maybe 1/2 hour of daylight left and I happened to be close to a spot where I once dug up and old IH; so I figured, what the heck??

Anyway, this is a party spot and probably THE trashiest spot I've hunted so far. I really didn't expect much in the very limited time I had.
I dug some trash and soon got a solid signal in the mid 50's so of course, I dug it thinking it just may be a little more gold.

It wasn't. About 7-8 inches down I found this:

It's an old, bent and mangled child sized silver plate spoon with VERY little silver left on it.

It has some markings on the underside but I can't make it out at this point.

It's definitely nothing to write home about but it's still a first for me and may be pretty old.
The IH I dug at this spot was an 1886 and this was maybe 10 feet from where I dug it. Maybe if a spend 5 or 6 months cleaning out all of the trash I can find some treasures hiding in this mess. It's really bad but my gut tells me there's some potential there. Where there's at least one old coin there could be a few more.

It was wet, muddy, damp, foggy and chilly this evening after lots of steady rain today. It was also just about dark so I packed it in. A mediocre find is still better than no find or no hunt in my book.

Thanks for looking and HH.

I bet detecting is your way to release all the troubles from work, so the finds really don't matter so much, do they? I mean they are just the icing on the cake. I actually went out IN the rain yesterday morning, lol. No astounding finds but I'd do it again even if I knew what I'd find.

You know, you're right about that. Sometimes on a really busy day I'll go from an extremely hectic situation to complete peace and quiet in the woods in no time.
It's a great feeling.

Unfortunately, daylight savings ends this weekend. By the time I leave work it's gonna' be dark starting Monday.
I really don't like this time of year.

I really wish I could hibernate and just wake up in early April. I could do without winter any time and never miss it a bit.
The older I get the worse the cold feels; especially that wind.
