Colonial Copper Zeus
Bronze Member
Zoyboy and I hit a colonial site today and I came away with a couple of doosies. While zoyboy was detecting a nearby cornfield I decided to hit an area close to a colonial homestead that Doyboy did some research on. He said a German man settled it around 1770 (if i recall the year right) After first finding a 1881 indian head I crossed a small road and started swinging . It wasn't long and I got a good 46 vdi reading which turned out to be a German 6 Kreuzer silver coin. I haven't done a whole lot of research on this coin yet but I did find a link on the web of a 1807 one that is identical. Awesome....God bless Pennsylvania. This state is a detectorists dream. A few feet away was a 1909 wheatie. If someone could tell me the mint years for this identical coin I would appreciate it. After high fiving Zoyboy until our hands were numb I started at the cornfield. Out pops a King George II copper. bent alittle from the plow and worn but you can make out the II and the top of the bust. Alittle larger than a quarter. Wow...Ialso found a couple of 2001 clad quarters to boot. That's three nationalities and 1700,1800,1900 and 2000 centuries worth of coins.....Chris
