I detected this site again for 2.5hrs this morning. This is where I have found 3 British martingales and 12 Isaac Campbell buckles in the past month. Winter is definitely coming as my hands, face and feet were almost as frozen as the ground today! :laughing7:
I started making finds almost immediately, first was the 1834 - 1934 Toronto Centennial / 1914 – 1934 Canadian Corps Re-Union Commemorative Pin, then the ‘love token’ Watch Fob, then a black glass ‘Anchor Button’ (I’d love to know when this dates to) and another Isaac Campbell Buckle.
Then I got a strong 85 – 86 at 6” and out came my 4th British Martingale find of 2014! :hello2:

I also love the ‘therapeutic’ horseshoe and the horseshoe half!
Thanks very much for looking,
Dave

Geez you're digging like they're pull tabs now! Congrats on #4Dave! What a great mitt full. Now the other finds are also a really nice selection like the button and fob. :occasion14:

That horse shoe must of hurt when you pulled it out, because I truly believe you have more than one shoe with the luck you're having this season.:laughing7:

That's almost exactly what I said Abe... except with a lot more 'F' words! :laughing7:
Yeah, I think it's time for a trip to the local library.

Thanks very much Jim!
I love finding horseshoes almost as much as I love finding British horse hardware! :laughing7:

Still mystifies me that I have yet to find an old coin here, from either the yard or the field?
Dave

Thanks for your post Dave! :occasion14:
Between you and me, I have a feeling these are all breastplate martingales.
They're all of similar construction (metal gauge and dimensions), although the first one I found in Eastern Ontario in August is of a much 'sturdier' construction. :icon_scratch:
Most of the membership here has never seen these before (the guys in the UK have), consequently there's been minimal feedback that way.

Nice going bud, amazing site. Great finds again, they look like a herd of martigales now.
I might be wrong, but isn't that an ox shoe?

I guess you can sleep easier this winter now that you got the fourth

I had a feeling there was another one hiding there. :icon_scratch:

I've found the left and right portions of an ox shoe, but I didn't know they were made this big! :icon_scratch:

Wow that's amazing Dave! Maybe I missed it in an earlier post, but do you have any idea why those are showing up on that particular site?

Hey Steve! :hello:
I have know idea my friend, all I know is the are was settled by veterans of the War of 1812.
A number of soldiers were deeded land in this area by the King of England for their service during the war.

To the best of my knowledge, these martingales date between 1840 - 60 and the house dates to c.1850.
I think a trip to my local library is needed in order to dig deeper into the history of this village.
Thanks again for your interest and support buddy! :occasion14:
