1937 Bicycle Tax Tag

Has anyone else seen one of these before? I did a Google search and found nothing.

Like Dog Tax/licenses, it Must have been the predecessor to Bicycle Licenses.
I wasn't aware of them either. possibly not something that went over too well

apparently in the 40's they dropped the word "Tax" in favor of License

Dauphin County PA has a Bicycle Tax Ledger, listed 1899-1902. 1 roll.

so they are out there find.

First I have heard - interesting

So during the depression when most could only just afford to eat & cars were a luxury, they taxed your bike instead - nice!

Thanks for the research info Jeff! It is in good shape with just the one point of the star bent and part of the strap on the right side may be missing. Here's a picture of the back, with a quarter for size reference.
