We got a little warm up so a buddy and I hit a well pounded field sunday, Finds were very slim. Only coin I found, was a beat up 1856 seated dime. But hey its old, and its seated, and its silver.....not complaining lol. No idea what the long skinny thing is. Looks like it has people on it

Nice assortment of finds. The seated dime still looks good. Congrats.

The long skinny thing with people on it is a broken silverware handle from a spoon or fork.

I believe the round brass item to be a shoe heel plate.

I have the same badge with the people on it. Mine may be in a little better shape? (Your picture is a little blurry) It was found in a 1830's fort site in central Florida in the late 1970's by my father. If you look very close, the people are pulling a steam operated fire apparatus. To the left is a small structure that is on fire and there is one person with a megaphone. I was told that the object is a fireman's suspender strap. I'll take a picture of mine when I get home and post it here if that is ok with you. Nice finds and that suspender strap is only the third one I've ever seen.

Interesting piece. Its definitely not a silverware handle. GaRebel's picture might help. Id like to see a pic too. Nice finds.

yes I agree not a silverware handle at all, it is VERY thin and fragile, bends easily

That is a pre-1860 seated, even though it is beat to hades.

Here is the one my dad found years ago. Mine is thin as well. Being that it is fragile I have wonder if it was a cover of some sort to a suspender. That is only a guess. Obviously, it was meant to be displayed.

If we could date that firefighting equipment then we would have a better idea of the age.

Great finds. The fireman piece sure looks like it's for suspenders! :)
