Thought I'd finish with something older

So, I decided to take this, possibly, last warm day and take a walk around the mansion. This place makes me happy, just being there.
I figured I couldn't lose. I kind of consider any hunt there as a relic hunt anymore though.

Short walk and it worked:

You had to be there, but this was a funny find!
I uncovered the tip of it first, pointing straight up. The
thing was over 10 inches down!

When I first saw the tip in the hole I said, cool!

A bull....then I started pulling it from the hole and as I pulled
I finished my statement.....

bulllllllllllllllllll.............LET!?!?!??!?!?! LOL :laughing9:

Don't know for sure what it is but it appears to be part of a
brass handle, like for a spigot. Solid! Weighs about 2 ounces.

Part of a crotal?

This place always tends to make me smile with the strange finds.
An emblem? Possible this could be a trademark/maker's mark off a boot, saddle, reins, tennis shoe, the world's
smallest flintlock? ;)

In any case, it kept Blingie & Fishy busy. ;)

Thanks for peeking!

I found a brass tag like that and didn't realize it was an old "return to post office" key fob until I tumbled it. Even after wiping it, I couldn't see the letters.

Yep, gotta watch those finds.

But, I know what this one is, it has a 060 on the other side. It's an old, cow's ear tag.

Thanks!

It's hard to believe you're still pulling so much from that site. Get out while you can. I hope to get out to the newest permission this week, even if I have to trudge through the snow we're supposed to get Wednesday, lol.

Well, the next time you're out in a very large field to do some swinging. Take a good, close look at the the entire field surrounding you. Then, look at the size of your coil, then the field, then the coil, then the field. Eventually, you'll begin to understand just how one can keep finding things in only one field, for a lifetime of swinging! Not only the size, but all the little idiosyncrasies. The angles of the surface, the targets, the depths, the moisture, the mineralization, the masking targets, the depth, changing positions of the targets in frozen ground, etc, etc.

Not really TOO hard to believe. Even war nickels could be uncovered on subsequent visits. ;) LOL :tongue3:
