Looks real to me , but the trigger looks damaged. Th grips are either metal or they just have some oxidization from mineralized river slime.Nice bottle ,too.I found a cast iron toy click gun one time that looked pretty real. Yours may be the real thing . Good finds.

It's real for sure, whack it with a hammer and put it through some electrolysis and you might be able to get some details revealed. Judging from the sheer amount of rust it seems like a low grade "Saturday night special" type pistol probably lost/ditched at least 50 years ago.

My cap pistol looked so real out of the ground too, but one of the distinguishing features of a real gun is moving parts. I don't think the whole gun would be coated in the same hued rust, there'd be breaks where the parts separated.

Soak it in ACV for a bit before going to electrolysis. My bet is a cap pistol, which is still a nice find, as it's intact.

looks like a cast iron toy to me. if real, the hand grips would be wood, plastic, hard rubber, or some such and would not be covered in rust. it's also got a funky shape about it like most old cast iron toy pistols do
