Hello pepperj, these Scottish coins turn up fairly frequently in Northern England.

Hello Bill, here's a better picture of the Henry VIII sovereign penny. It's got a good clear mint mark of a star on both sides, this dates it to 1514-26. It's Durham mint, Bishop Wolsey (the bishop had minting rights) TW beside shield, and a hat below shield.
